Truth Serum
As the lead motion designer and art director for Truth Serum, I shaped the show’s visual identity from concept to completion. With just one day to turn the project around, I drew creative inspiration from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, adapting its clean, editorial motion style to fit our unique tone. I designed and animated the title logo, developed the full on-screen brand graphics package, and leveraged AI tools like DALL·E to generate custom imagery that blended conceptual storytelling with a distinctive aesthetic. The result was a cohesive visual system that elevated the series’ production value and gave Truth Serum its signature look and feel.
Behind the Workflow:
From AI Prompts to Branded Graphics
In this tutorial, I walk through how I combined AI tools and motion design to accelerate production for Truth Serum. The process starts with DALL·E-generated images, then flows through a custom After Effects template built with expression code written using ChatGPT. Finally, a JSX script automates the entire pipeline—importing assets, organizing compositions, and exporting deliverables with minimal manual input, resulting in refined, branded still graphics.
What used to take nearly three hours for ten graphics now takes under twenty minutes, proving that automation doesn’t replace creativity—it expands it. This tutorial breaks down each step, showing how design, code, and AI can work together to transform storytelling at scale.
